Does Authenticity Replace Authority?

I recently read an article which posited that authenticity replaces authority.
I don’t believe this is true, I think that when it comes to social business, they are equally important. However, I began to reflect on the statement and was reminded of an incident that occurred years ago, where my lack of authenticity compromised my authority (and the humiliation still stings years later).

Why dealing with complaints promptly and unconditional apologies are good for business.

Good complaints processes protect the individuals, (particularly in the case of aged care services where many are vulnerable and some without advocates in family or friends). The conference pointed out issues of discrimination and hatred for LGBTI people, fears of coming out for people who are frightened of being treated poorly because of their sexuality, gender preference or intersex status.

I would think that most businesses know that using a well-known person’s photo to help them promote their product without that well-known person’s permission is likely to lead to trouble. And it is hard to believe that a business would think that they could use it anyway, and the well-known person will be no none-the-wiser.
